Fraser Franks

Fraser George Franks Date of Birth: Nov 22, 1990

Born in Hammersmith, Fraser started his journey in 1999 where he joined the Chelsea Academy. He left in 2007 and joined nearby Brentford as an apprentice. In 2009 he was given his first loan spell, signing for Basingstoke Town, making 13 appearances and scoring 2 goals. He was released by the Bees in May 2010 and joined Conference club AFC Wimbledon. His time at Wimbledon was hampered by a big injury in March 2011, resulting in Fraser only making 28 appearances over 2 years in South West London. Fraser also had loan spells at Hayes and Yeading and Newport County, before being released by the Wombles in May 2012, joining Welling United, who were playing in the Conference South.

He made 60 appearances for Welling, scoring 4 times, which drew the attention of Luton Town in January 2014, the Hatters parting with £10,000 to secure his services. His career at Luton career started in spectacular fashion after being named Man of the Match by the Luton News in his first game, a 2-1 victory over Macclesfield. His first season at Luton was capped off with the Hatters romping to the Conference title, with Fraser making 18 appearances during the second half of the season. However, Fraser struggled to break into the side during Luton’s first year back in the Football League and he was released at the end of the 2014/15 season.

Fraser continued his career at Stevenage and then Newport. Unfortunately, his career cut short, with heart problems forcing him to retire at 28 years old. He has been a keen advocate for Cardiac health since retiring, and has been raising awareness for men’s health, releasing a podcast with former Cricketer Luke Sutton.
