Gareth Salisbury

Gareth Salisbury Date of Birth: Mar 11, 1941

Welsh Youth international Gareth started his Football League career with Wrexham, making his debut for the Robins in 1960.

After flitting in and out of the side Gareth made a surprise move to Norwich in July 1962 but could not make the breakthrough at Carrow Road and transferred to Luton a year later.

A strongly built inside forward, Gareth netted twice in 12 starts but an Achilles injury lost him his place in the side and a move to Colchester also ended in injury.

Gareth was luckier at Chesterfield, who he joined in 1965, but was even more successful during a three year stint in Australia where he was voted ‘Player of the Year’ for Victoria State in his second year there.

Upon returning to North Wales, Gareth became a computer specialist for the Health Authority before chronic asthma forced his early retirement. Gareth now lives on Anglesey.
