Gary Doherty

Gary Doherty Date of Birth: Jan 31, 1980

Coming up through the ranks at Kenilworth Road the Eire born but locally raised Gary formed part of a formidable Luton Town Youth side that reached the F.A. Youth Cup semi-finals in 1997.

Luton supporters could never be sure which was Gary’s best position as he was equally adept in central defence and as a striker and the same could be said after a big money move to Tottenham in April 2000 saw him appear all over the pitch at White Hart Lane.

A broken ankle saw the big Eire international out for a long spell and after returning to fitness he reluctantly accepted a move to Norwich, deciding to concentrate on defending and becoming a mainstay in the Canaries back line.

Gary subsequently turned out for Charlton and Wycombe before a stint in the USA with San Jose Earthquakes.
