Gavin Johnson

Gavin Johnson Date of Birth: Oct 10, 1970

Stowmarket born Gavin joined Ipswich from school and went on to make over 100 League appearances for the Portman Road side over six seasons despite suffering a succession of serious knee injuries.

Given a free transfer in 1995, Gavin was snapped up by Luton manager Terry Westley but could manage only a handful of games as the Town struggled in Division One. By the time the Hatters had recruited Lennie Lawrence to the hot seat, Gavin was on loan at Wigan and a £15,000 cheque eventually took him to Springfield Park permanently.

Considering his early injury record as well as subsequent broken legs, this solid and obviously indestructible left sided midfielder or defender went on to enjoy a long career and was still turning out in senior non-League football in East Anglia into his forties.
