George Cummins

George Patrick Cummins Date of Birth: Mar 12, 1931

George was a schoolboy sensation in Dublin and was wanted by most of the big English clubs but decided to choose Everton because of their strong Irish contingent.

Although an inside forward of skill and vision and blessed with the ability to carve open a defence with a single touch, George found it difficult to retain a regular first team place amongst the 52 professionals at Goodison Park and was happy to come to Luton in 1953.

George enjoyed eight years at Kenilworth Road as the Hatters won promotion to the top flight and reached the F.A.Cup final during his stay and he also picked up 19 Eire caps along the way.

Leaving Luton in 1960 to join Cambridge City, George came back into the league with Hull before working as an electrician on Merseyside. George sadly passed away in Southport in 2009.
