George Harford
George Harford Date of Birth: Dec 7, 1902 Share "George Harford" on FacebookBorn in Abbey Wood in 1910, George was playing in goal for Bexley when he was signed by Millwall and helped them to win the championship of Division Three (South) in his first full season of 1927-28.
Signing for Luton in 1929 he was a capable goalkeeper but sometimes too brave for his own good as he was seriously injured in each of his seasons at Kenilworth Road only to bounce back and assume his role as first choice.
An accomplished musician on the sousaphone he appeared with several professional orchestras.
Eventually leaving in 1935 he went to Carlisle for a season before finishing his playing career at Rhyl where he was a runner up in the 1937 Welsh Cup final. He ran the Hollinshead Arms pub in Chorley later in life and also worked as a coach driver, before passing away in December 1980.
