After making his first team debut towards the end of the 1955/56 campaign, George was converted to a left winger where his speed and bravery soon earned him a regular spot in the Luton line-up over the next two seasons.
When the Hatters signed Billy Bingham in 1958, right winger Jim Adam moved to the other side leaving George out in the cold. A £6,000 cheque then took him to Brentford where he became a crowd favourite in over 200 League appearances for the Bees.
After a move to QPR in 1964, in exchange for Mark Lazarus, George emigrated to South Africa where he appeared for Port Elizabeth. George passed away in 2016.
