George Potter

George Potter Date of Birth: Oct 7, 1946

Tough tackling full-back George had been earning good reviews while turning out for Forfar leading to him being invited for trials at promotion bound Luton in March 1968.

The Hatters liked what they saw when he appeared in a Beds Professional Cup game against Dunstable and offered him a contract and an almost immediate first team call-up in midfield as replacement for the injured Alan Slough.

Although never letting the side down, George found it difficult to win a regular place in a Hatters side moving up through the divisions and so moved to Torquay in 1969 and on to Hartlepool two years later where he went on to make over 200 League appearances.

George emigrated to Australia in 1977 becoming a dollar millionaire, owning three McDonald’s franchises in Brisbane!
