George Walden
George Walden Date of Birth: Jun 3, 1888 Share "George Walden" on FacebookBorn in Poplar in 1888, George was a centre-forward playing locally for Leytonstone when he was suddenly whisked up to Football League club Hull City in 1909.
He managed only two starts with the Tigers before he was off to Rotherham County, from where he joined the Town in March 1912.
The Town were drifting towards relegation from Southern League Division One and there was a desperate need for a proven striker but George was not the answer, netting only two goals in seven appearances in an admittedly poor side.
He was released at the end of the season and moved on to Scunthorpe and Lindsey United before passing away in 1944.
