Harvey McCreadie

Harvey William McCreadie Date of Birth: Oct 1, 1942

After becoming Accrington Stanley’s youngest ever League player at the age of 16 in 1959, young Scottish centre-forward Harvey began to attract the scouts with the eventual winners being Luton Town who paid £5,500 for his services in January 1960.

Harvey was given only one chance at Luton, in a 2-3 defeat at Wolves, as the Town slipped out of Division One but by then off field problems were beginning to bite with fines for failure to report for training and going absent without leave.

The final straw came with his arrest following an altercation at the California Ballroom in Dunstable and manager Sam Bartram quickly offloaded him to Wrexham.

He fared little better at the Racecourse and moved swiftly on to Northwich and Mossley before returning to Scotland with Hibs. Harvey passed away in 2008.
