Herbert Bateman

When the Town dropped into the Second Division of the Southern League in 1912, the Committee were forced to call upon local players given the financial state of the club. Herbert Bateman was one of those, a competent goalkeeper with Luton Amateurs, who played a number of first team games in 1912-13 and kept several clean sheets but was not retained at the season’s end.

Herbert later managed Luton Clarence to an Athenian League and Beds Senior Cup double in 1920-21.
