Horace Wallbanks
Horace William Wallbanks Date of Birth: Apr 9, 1918 Share "Horace Wallbanks" on FacebookHorace came from a footballing family with four of his brothers turning out in the Football League at one time or another.
Starting off his own career with Northfleet, the Tottenham nursery team, he moved on to Carlisle as war broke out and then guested for Aberdeen, Luton and Grimsby before signing permanently for the Mariners in 1946.
In need of a right winger, Luton remembered their war-time guest player and signed Horace in May 1947 just in time for him to play, and score, in the final day 6-3 win over Newport.
Horace could not repeat that feat and made only three League appearances in 1947/48 before signing for Weymouth. Horace finished his career at Bedford and then settled in Hull before passing away in Kettering in 2004.
