Imre Varadi
Imre Varadi Date of Birth: Jul 8, 1959 Share "Imre Varadi" on FacebookThe product of a Hungarian refugee father and an Italian mother, Imre was born in Paddington but brought up in a charitable institution. Turned down by various League clubs, he joined Letchworth and was training at Luton two evenings a week when he was invited to Sheffield United by ex-Hatters manager Harry Haslam.
This was the start of a long footballing career that took the quick and deadly striker to 12 Football League clubs and seven non-League before he finally finished playing just short of his 40th birthday.
Scoring goals wherever he went, Imre had a brief spell on loan at David Pleat’s Luton in March 1992 and scored on his debut in a 2-1 home win over Wimbledon.
Imre subsequently became a players agent based in Sheffield.
