Jack Jarvie

John Jarvie

Born in Kirkintilloch in 1891, Jack played for the famous Rob Roy club and was enticed south by Tottenham.

After failing to make the grade there he switched to Luton in March 1913. A nippy left-back who liked to jostle wingers out of position he played 24 consecutive games before an injury in a home clash with Caerphilly brought the run to an end.

Unable to win his place back, he returned to Scotland and joined the 2nd Battalion, Argyll Southern Highlanders and was killed in action at Mons in November 1914.
