Jack Nelson
Jack Nelson Date of Birth: Mar 15, 1906 Share "Jack Nelson" on FacebookBorn in Chorley in 1905, Jack was signed from his local side by Preston in 1928 and after four years there had three seasons at Wolves before coming to Luton in May 1935 for a ‘big fee’.
A tall, strong centre-half and a natural leader he was soon made skipper and led the side to the championship of Division Three (South) in 1937. The step up to Division Two did not faze him and he continued to remain virtually ever-present until being badly injured at Millwall in December 1938.
Unable to recover from the injury, Jack retired from playing and took up a trainers role at Wolves.
Jack passed away in Wolverhampton in 1986.
