Jackie Mittell

Jackie James Mittell Date of Birth: Feb 28, 1906

Born in Merthyr Tydfil in 1906, Jackie was an experienced goalkeeper who came to Luton in the summer of 1933 after gaining League experience at Rochdale and Wigan Borough and latterly at Birmingham where he was understudy to Harry Hibbs the England number one.

Described as spectacular, but not very solid, he was picked for the first eight games but lost his place to George Harford after a 4-0 defeat at Norwich and spent the rest of his time at Luton in the reserves.

Leaving at the end of the season, Jackie later enjoyed good spells at both Hartlepools and Barrow leading up to the War before following his parents profession and becoming a hotelier,.

Jackie passed away in 1976.
