James Brown

James Brown

Born in Luton in 1880, James was a product of Luton Stanley, a feeder club for the Town, and was called upon to play for the Luton reserve side on many occasions.

With the Town struggling on and off the field in their final Football League season of 1899-1900 there was a need to bolster the side with local lads and James turned out 13 times that campaign, mainly as a wing-half, and did not disgrace himself.

James liked the idea of continuing in the Football League so took up an offer from Middlesbrough but only played twice in 1900-01 before returning home.
