James Dance

James Dance Date of Birth: Mar 15, 1987

Having been a Birmingham City trainee as a youth, James started his senior career with spells at Rushall Olympic and Redditch. Before becoming a full-time footballer, he also trained as a barber.

Moves to Kettering and Crawley Town preceded his switch to Luton, Gary Brabin bringing him to Kenilworth Road in July 2011. James started the 2011/12 season strongly, providing an energetic presence on the right of midfield as well as back-up at right-back when needed. After fracturing his cheekbone heading home the third goal in a 5-1 FA Cup victory over Hendon at the end of October, he missed only two games, returning to the starting line-up for the 1-1 draw with Cambridge United in mid-November.

Sadly James’s promising Luton career was derailed by an ankle injury picked up in January 2012. He eventually returned as a late substitute in the FA Cup 1st round replay win over Nuneaton Town in mid-November. Three further cup appearances and a couple of months on loan at Nuneaton followed, but he was released at the end of the season.

This unfortunately meant the end of cut-price haircuts for the Luton squad, James taking his football and barbering skills back to the West Midlands, opening and running barber shops in Tamworth and his home town of Coleshill while turning out for a number of sides in the area.
