Jim McNichol
Jim McNichol Date of Birth: Jun 9, 1958 Share "Jim McNichol" on FacebookGlaswegian Jim started his career with Ipswich but was unable to make the grade at Portman Road and so moved to Luton in July 1976.
At Kenilworth Road, Jim initially found it difficult to displace regular central defensive partnership John Faulkner and Paul Futcher and then with new manager David Pleat bringing in fresh blood he accepted a move to Brentford for £30,000, which was then a record for the Bees.
At Griffin Park, Jim was a regular for six years, picking up Scottish Under-21 caps along the way, before falling out with the Bees management and moving to Exeter and then Torquay where he was famously bitten by a police dog during a relegation clash. In the time added on for patching up his wound the Gulls scored the goal that kept them in the Football League!
Jim became a publican in Ashburton after leaving the game.
