James Coupar
James Coupar Date of Birth: Mar 3, 1869 Share "James Coupar" on FacebookBorn in Dundee in 1869, Jimmy was plying his trade with the magically named Dundee Our Boys when he, along with two of his colleagues, were snapped up by Newton Heath in 1892.
After a season he moved to St Johnstone and then to Rotherham Town before ending up at Luton in 1895.
Although only small in stature he packed a tremendous shot, preferring to hit the ball first time, and soon becoming a crowd favourite. In three seasons he netted 32 goals in 80 starts but at the end of 1897-98 he decided to move to Swindon on account of there being more Scots there!
After two years at Swindon he enjoyed a final swansong back at Newton Heath. Jimmy passed away in Ulverston in 1953.
