Jock Weir
Jock Jimmy Weir Date of Birth: Apr 12, 1939 Share "Jock Weir" on FacebookGlasgow born Jimmy was playing for Clydebank Juniors when Fulham scouts enticed him to Craven Cottage but after three years and three league appearances he moved on to York in 1960.
Winger Jimmy proved a revelation at Bootham Crescent, netting 38 goals in 82 starts for the Minstermen, and the supporters were mightily disappointed when he left to join Mansfield who he helped to promotion to the old Division Three.
Joining Luton at the end of August 1963 for £5,000, Jimmy failed to show his previous form as a goalscoring winger in a poor Luton side and after losing his place to teenager Ray Whittaker moved on to Tranmere. Jimmy finished his football career at Midland League side Scarborough, and then settled in the town working as a coachbuilder until retirement.
