Joe Coen

Joseph Leo Coen Date of Birth: Dec 4, 1911

Glasgow born in 1912, Joe made a name for himself as a goalkeeper of note with several clubs in Scotland before coming south and catching the eye of Town scouts while at Bournemouth.

Joining Luton in the summer of 1934 he soon made the number one position his own but was always kept on his toes by another capable goalkeeper Humphrey Dolman and the pair vied for the spot until the latter retired in 1938.

Joe sadly died in an aircraft training accident over Grantham in 1941 and he is interred at Holy Trinity church in Biscot.
