Joe Till

Born in Stoke in 1892, Joe first came to prominence with Dumbarton in Scotland from where he joined St Mirren.

Joe became unsettled at St Mirren after one season and wanted a move, with the Town interested, but too high a price was placed on him leading to a lot of haggling before the man was secured twelve months later.

Making an inauspicious start at right-back he was soon switched over to the left becoming a regular fixture in the side over the next five years. Very quick and powerful with good distribution, Joe was popular with the crowd and it was a sad day, with his career coming to a close, when he moved to Crewe in 1928.

Joe passed away in 1955.
