Joe Young
Joe Young Date of Birth: Sep 25, 1905 Share "Joe Young" on FacebookBorn in Flimby, Cumbria in 1906, Joseph was playing for Spennymoor when soon to be appointed Luton manager George Kay beat off the changes of West Ham and Northampton for his services in December 1929.
Making his debut at inside-right in the Christmas games against, ironically, Northampton he was regarded as the best of a bad bunch in a poor side but his third game, a 4-0 home defeat to Exeter was not one of his best.
Deciding on wholesale changes to the team, Kay did not stand in Joe’s way when Northampton made a bid but his stay at the County Ground was equally brief and he was soon back north playing for Whitehaven.
