John Bratby

Born in Belper in 1895 John had turned out for Belper Town pre-Great War and became one of the many former servicemen of varying abilities given trials by clubs once hostilities had ended.

His stay at Luton was short. Given three games at centre-forward to replace the injured Ernie Simms at the back end of 1919-20 he was then released only to enjoy a successful three year spell at Clapton Orient, which was only ended by a severe injury suffered in a reserve game.

John passed away in Peacehaven in 1982.
