John Green

John Green Date of Birth: Aug 22, 1896

Born in Blackburn in 1896, John was a well built muscular forward who was briefly on the books of Rovers after the Great War but made a name for himself at Fleetwood attracting the attentions of Nottingham Forest who paid a big fee for his services in 1921.

Unable to win a regular place at the City Ground he was spotted by the Town while playing for Forest reserves and came to Luton in the summer of 1923.

After a slow start he enjoyed a good run but had lost his place by the end of the campaign and was freed. After trials at Southend he returned to the North-West before emigrating to Canada.

John died in a road traffic accident in Canada in 1927.
