John Orr

Born in Kilburnie, John was signed by the Town from Kilwinning Rangers (who were also to produce Bob Graham and Andy Rennie for the Town) in December 1923 as a replacement for the injured Tommy Gibbon.

A fearless goalkeeper, John lost his place once Gibbon was fit then regained it as the season drew to a close. Retained for a second season he became a permanent reserve to new signing Gilbert Brookes and, disillusioned and homesick, went home and joined Dunfermline where he played for several seasons before hanging up his gloves.
