Johnny Mullins

Johnny Mullins Date of Birth: Nov 6, 1985

Born Hampstead, Middlesex. Went through Reading’s youth system and signed professional in December 2004. He had two successful loan periods with Conference side Kidderminster Harriers over two seasons. 21 games and 2 goals was followed by 30 games and 2 goals and the Player of the Season award.

A leader and no nonsense centre back was just what Mansfield Town of the 4th tier needed and two seasons, 97 appearances and 5 goals followed. He was Player of the Season for 2007/08. On to Stockport County in the 3rd tier and 80 games and 4 goals followed in a two year period with a loan spell at Oxford United towards the end. Oxford United signed Mr Reliable permanently and Johnny made 149 appearances scoring 9 goals between October 2012 and the Summer of 2016.

Nathan Jones signed Danny Hylton from Oxford at the same time as Johnny came to Kenilworth Road. Johnny said - "When a club like Luton call, it was a no-brainer - I wanted to join. I've come to get promoted and play in front of some top-drawer fans.”

He made his debut in the opening game of the 2016/17 season, a 3 0 win at Plymouth Argyle. Rotation of centre backs and consistency of other players restricted his appearances to 29 and 22 in the two seasons. He helped the Town achieve promotion to the 3rd tier as runners-up. His contract was not renewed and Johnny ended his playing career with Cheltenham Town in 2019.
