Jon Shaw

Jon Shaw Date of Birth: Nov 10, 1983

Born Sheffield, England. Jon Started out at Sheffield Wednesday and came through their youth system. After 24 games and 2 goals in the top flight and second tier for the Owls, Jon was sent out on loan to York City but then signed for Burton Albion on a permanent basis where he spent four seasons in the Conference making 118 appearances and scoring 31 goals.

A period of turmoil followed with permanent stays with Halifax town, Rochdale and Mansfield Town and loans at Crawley town and Barrow. However, a loan spell at Gateshead really fitted. Jon signed a two year deal in 2010 and 56 goals in 95 games saw attention coming his way.

Jon was signed by Paul Buckle on a two year contract in June 2012 and made a scoring debut against Gateshead in a 2 2 draw at Kenilworth Road. He went on to play 38 times scoring 10 times but was a frustrating with the Town finishing 7th. Manager Paul Buckle left and John Still came in and built a new side brimming with talent.

Jon’s contribution to the 2013/14 season was limited by injuries but also by the sheer quality in the squad who were Champions by some distance. As Luton went into the Football League, Jon headed back to the Conference by signing for Gateshead. Two seasons and 13 goals saw Jon move on the South Shields, Dunston UTS and Blyth Spartans. It was at Blyth that he became Assistant Manager then Manager but was sacked in April 2024.
