Les Jones
Les Jones Date of Birth: Jan 1, 1930 Share "Les Jones" on FacebookAlthough born in Wales, Les came to the notice of Luton Town when playing for Luton District and South Beds League side Craig Athletic.
Cool under pressure, too cool some said, and able to play in both full-back positions, Les made his debut at the back end of the 1950/51 season and eventually earned a fairly regular place in the Hatters side despite having to compete against both Seamus Dunne and Bud Aherne.
Often mentioned in dispatches to the Welsh international selectors, Les asked for a transfer after losing his place to Ken Hawkes and moved to Aston Villa where he made only five appearances before signing up with the Army.
On leaving the forces, Les joined Worcester City before hanging his boots up. Staying in Birmingham, Les became a lorry driver until retirement and passed away in 2016.
