Lloyd Owusu

Lloyd Owusu Date of Birth: Dec 12, 1976

Born in Slough, Lloyd had a long career as a striker scoring goals almost everywhere he went. His raised arms, palms up “raise the roof” celebration was unique to Lloyd and he did it for well over 200 goals in over 600 games.

He started out at his home town club and was then snapped up by Brentford where he played for 4 seasons. His 63 goals leading the line attracted Sheffield Wednesday who signed him when his contract expired at Brentford. He scored on his debut against the Blades in a 2 0 win.

After leaving the Owls, Lloyd had spells at Reading, back at Brentford, Yeovil, Cheltenham Town and then to Adelaide United. In January 2011 he signed for the Hatters until the endof the season. He scored on his debut in a 5 0 home win over York City at Kenilworth Road. A total of 7 goals in 15 games did not convince manager Gary Brabin to play him in the play off games. The absence of his experience and firepower for the play off final against AFC Wimbledon at the Etihad was much discussed.

Lloyd moved on to Barnet, Hayes and Yeading and back to Slough Town for brief periods. He then moved to Australia in 2012 to play for 4 clubs and naturally he scored goals at
each one.

Lloyd stayed on in Australia after retiring in 2015 taking up a coaching post at Cranbrook
