Mark Tyler

Mark Tyler Date of Birth: Apr 2, 1977

Born Norwich, Norfolk, Mark spent his youth career at his home town club. He signed for Peterborough United in 1994 and when he left in 2009 he had played 486 times for the Posh. A dependable, all round keeper with no weaknesses, it seems strange that he was loaned out many times, to Billericay and Yeovil in the early days and to Hull, Watford and Bury just before his move to Kenilworth Road.

Mark would later say - “The main reason now for joining was the atmosphere, though. Playing at the Kenny most weeks in front of the crowd was amazing. The crowd were right on top of you, it was a small pitch, as an away player it was always noisy for just 10,000; it was intimidating, it was the main reason for joining to experience that as a home player.”

He made his Town debut in August 2009 in the 1 1 draw away to AFC Wimbledon. He saved two penalties in the first few months which together with his assured all round keeping made him a fans favourite. He played in all 46 games of the Conference Championship winning season of 2013/14 keeping a record 23 clean sheets - half of the
games.

Injuries reduced his appearances in the next few seasons and Peterborough made noises about a return as a player coach. Mark left Luton in March 2016 and after one season retired from the playing side to become the permanent goalkeeping coach.
