Martin Robin SPERRIN

Son of ex-Brentford star Billy, Martin was plying his trade with Edgware when Luton scouts invited him and team mate Brian Stein to Kenilworth Road.

A matter of weeks later, inside-forward Martin was appearing at Old Trafford in a League Cup second replay against Manchester City. His League debut came later in that 1977/78 season in a home clash with Sunderland but by that time manager Harry Haslam had been replaced by David Pleat who wanted his own men in the side.

Martin left Luton for Barry Fry’s Barnet before working his way through Hertfordshire sides Bishops Stortford, Hertford and Ware.

A resident of Sawbridgeworth, Martin has been running a kitchen showroom for many years and includes Paul Price as one of his satisfied clients!
