Nathan Doyle

Nathan Doyle Date of Birth: Jan 12, 1987

Born in Derby, Nathan started with Derby County where he made his debut in the top flight. The club were relegated to the Championship but he was unable to hold a first team place. Loans out to Notts County and Bradford City, Nathan was named Player of Season for the Bantams despite being recalled by Derby in January. A permanent move to Hull City was not successful with only 14 appearances in 3 seasons.

A move to Barnsley got Nathan the first team games he wanted, 100 appearances to be precise. A loan spell at Preston was followed by a season long loan at Bradford City. He played in 52 games and helped the Bantams to promotion to League One in 2013 via a play off final victory over Northampton Town. A new one year contract saw 42 games but he was released at the end of the season.

Town manager John Still saw Nathan’s bustling defensive midfield style as ideal for the Hatters in their first season back in the Football League for the 2014/15 season. He worked hard on his fitness and was rewarded by making his debut in the 2 0 home victory over Oxford United on the 27th September 2014. A fans favourite who worked very hard in midfield, protected the defence and gave 100%, he became a fans favourite. A further 30 appearances followed and earned him the Player of the Season award.

The 2015/16 season started well for Nathan but a series of injuries limited his appearances to 14. The club offered a new contract in November such was his ability but eventually he was released at the end of the season. His last game for the Town was in a 2 0 defeat at Peterborough United in December 2015.

Nathan ended his career with Bridlington Town and then East Hull. He had a spell as manager at the latter before leaving in December 2020.
