Olly Lee

Oliver Robert Lee Born: 11th July 1991 From:
  1. Hornchurch
  2. London
  3. England

Olly started his youth career at West Ham United and signed professional with them in 2009. He never made the first team and was loaned out twice to Dagenham and Redbridge under manager John Still and also to Gillingham. He signed permanently for Barnet in 2012 and played regularly at first but a change in management saw him fall out of favour. A spell on loan at Birmingham was followed by a permanent move to the Blues in May 2013. He made 20 appearances in the first season but none in the second and was loaned out to Plymouth Argyle.

When Birmingham released Olly at the end of the 2014/15 season, Luton manager John Still stepped in. Looking for a midfielder, John Still said on signing him - “we were looking for a good passer of the ball, and he’s that.” 123 appearances and 11 goals was the result. The most famous goal came in the 7 0 demolition of Cambridge United in November 2017 when Olly shot from one postcode to score in another, a full 65 yards.

Having helped Luton win promotion to League One, Olly signed a 3 year contract with Heart of Midlothian in the Summer of 2018. He scored on his debut but far more importantly scored a screamer in the Edinburgh derby to give the Jambo’s a 1 0 win in December 2018. That first season saw Olly as a regular but both the following two seasons saw much time spent on loan at Gillingham.

Sadly Olly had to retire from playing in February 2023 due to psoriatic arthritis and Reynaud Syndrome. After a spell coaching Ipswich Under 18’s, Olly joined Norwich City’s under 21 coaching staff.
