Paul Read Date of Birth: Sep 25, 1973

Born in Harlow, Essex, Paul began his career as an apprentice at Arsenal. He did not make the first team and was loaned out 3 times. In 1997 he signed for Wycombe Wanderers where he played 59 times scoring 9 goals over 2 seasons. A spell in Sweden was followed by a trial at Kenilworth Road.

Manager Lennie Lawrence took on Paul as a non contract striker. He replaced Stuart Douglas at half time in the Football League Trophy in December 1999. He forced a save from the Oxford keeper and then missed a one on one in the dying minutes firing high and wide. He never featured again.

He signed for Exeter followed where he was in and out of the team in the 18 months he was at St. James’ Park. Paul ended his career at Fleet Town.
