Percy James
Percy James Date of Birth: Mar 9, 1917 Share "Percy James" on FacebookRhondda born Percy was 32 when he was picked up by Luton Town from amateur side Oxford City in 1949. The clever left winger made a scoring debut in a 2-5 defeat at Bury in October 1949 and kept his place the following week when leaders Tottenham were held to a 1-1 draw at Kenilworth Road in front of a then record League crowd of 27,319.
The Welsh Amateur international then surprisingly found himself out of the side and, although earning good reviews as part of a strong Hatters reserve side, decided to return to non-League football, joining Worcester City where he eventually became player/manager. Percy died in 1993.
