Peter, who had been turning out for Germiston Callies, swapped the South African summer for the English winter of 1954 and within 24 hours of stepping off the plane was playing first team football for Luton in a friendly against Hajduk Split.
Peter holds the distinction of scoring two goals at Doncaster that helped clinch promotion in 1955 and then scored on the Town’s first game in Division One. In the summer of 1956 Peter decided to return to Johannesburg where he became a sportswear rep.
