Petri Helin

Petri Juhani Helin Date of Birth: Dec 13, 1969

A month after appearing for Finland against England in a World Cup qualifier, tough midfielder or wing-back Petri was signing for Ricky Hill’s Luton as they battled against the drop to the football basement.

Regarded as a major coup at the time, the ex-FC Jokerit and HJK Helsinki stalwart scored on his Hatters debut in a 1-1 draw at Bury but following the dismissal of Hill his form went into decline and he left for Stockport in the summer of 2001.

At Edgeley Park another change of manager saw him moved on to Turkish side Denizlispor on loan, after which he retired from the game and returned to his former club FC Jokerit where he took up the position of managing director.
