Phil Gray

Philip Gray Date of Birth: Oct 2, 1968

After joining Tottenham from school, Belfast born Phil made his Spurs debut as an 18 year old but a series of injuries meant that he was not able to stake a regular claim and he moved to Luton in 1991 for £275,000 where he teamed up with his old boss David Pleat.

A consistent goalscorer at Kenilworth Road it came as a major disappointment when the stocky forward moved to Sunderland for £775,000 in 1993. By now a Northern Ireland international, Phil top scored for Sunderland in each of his first two seasons at Roker Park but left to join French club Nancy under freedom of contract. A big money transfer to Fortuna Sittard followed and it was then back to Luton in 1997 to renew acquaintances.

Phil still continued turning out in a Hatters shirt, guesting for the Supporters Trust fundraising side.
