It was in the latter position that he was asked to play in an emergency in the Town’s Football League side in March 1899 following the necessary sale of regular goalkeeper Bill Perkins to Liverpool.
He made five appearances in total, conceding 17 goals, and was allowed to slip back into local football, later joining Luton Stanley
