Ray Smith

Harold Raymond Smith Date of Birth: Sep 13, 1934

Hull born Ray joined his local side from school before signing professional forms in August 1952.

A speedy winger or inside-forward, Ray made only 23 League appearances in four years at Boothferry Park before dropping down to then non-League Peterborough for regular first team football.

At Posh, Ray helped the club to four Midland League titles before the inevitable elevation to the Football League in 1960. He continued to star as Peterborough swept all before them but was then surprisingly transferred to Northampton in 1962 where he was less successful.

His last move was to Luton in October 1963 but he could manage only ten starts in a poor Hatters side. Ray now lives back in Hull in retirement.
