Richard Langley

Richard Langley Date of Birth: Dec 27, 1979

A skilful London-born midfielder who joined Luton in summer 2006 on a free transfer from QPR. Given squad number 17 by manager Mike Newell, he netted a penalty in his second home match against Stoke, but from there it was largely downhill.

Richard had two full seasons at Kenilworth Road, but in that time successive relegations saw the club plummet from fifth in the Championship to the fourth tier. Plagued by injuries, the final straw was serious knee damage in a 2007 friendly at Rushden & Diamonds when, playing as a makeshift centre-back, he was stretchered off and out for nine months. His final Luton tally was 29 League appearances.

His career tally was just over 250 League games, the very last being a brief cameo when Mick Harford brought him off the Luton bench at home to Huddersfield, the final match of the miserable 2007-8 campaign. Richard attempted to resurrect his career at Blackpool, Bristol Rovers and several non-League clubs, but to no avail, finally quitting aged 32. His career highlights included a hat-trick for QPR at Blackpool in 2003 and 17 caps for Jamaica.
