Robbie Walker

Robbie Henry Walker

Born at Northallerton in 1884, Robbie first came to the fore at Middlesbrough where he made a handful of League appearances.

Finding it tough at Boro he moved south to Tottenham where he could not secure a regular spot before leaving under a cloud because of internal indiscipline and joining New Brompton.

Next in line was Northampton where his goals helped propel the Cobblers to the championship of Southern League Division One.

Never one to hang around too long he then went to Millwall before coming to Luton becoming the makeweight in the deal that took John Smith and Tommy Quinn to the Den in March 1911.

As it turned out it was a good piece of business as Robbie combined well with local boy Bert Moody as a maker and taker of chances but as the 1911-12 season progressed the goals dried up for the pair, leading to eventual relegation.

Robbie was not prepared to stay on and left for Bristol Rovers that summer, his last known club as the Great War loomed.
