Robert Tomlinson

Robert Thomas Tomlinson

Born in Bootle in 1892, Robert had started out with Tranmere before assisting Rochdale during the Great War when he scored 50 goals over two seasons.

Coming to Luton in the summer of 1919 he was regarded as an experienced forward and, as such, was expected to play anywhere along the front line. A succession of injuries cut back his appearances to only 12 in 1919-20, although he scored five goals, and feeling unsettled he decided to return north at the season’s end to join Mossley.
