Rory Allen Date of Birth: Oct 17, 1977

The Hatters were struggling at the wrong end of the Division Two table as the 1997/98 season drew to a close when ex-manager David Pleat offered one of his Tottenham youngsters on loan.

Rory Allen was recovering from a serious ankle injury and Luton were a little reluctant to take on a crock but it was a good job they did as he was a revelation and his six goals in eight appearances ensured survival.

Unable to stake a regular first team place at White Hart Lane, Rory was transferred to Portsmouth for £1 million but a succession of injuries cut short his career.

Rory subsequently took up a position with the Foreign Office.
