Samuel Eaton

Samuel Llewellyn Eaton Date of Birth: Nov 24, 1878

Born in Derby in 1878, Samuel was taken on by Derby County as a youngster as an apprentice to the legendary Steve Bloomer but, unable to rise to those high standards, moved to Hinckley from where he was picked up by Leicester Fosse in 1898.

He enjoyed two spells at Fosse and came to Luton in 1903 even though Football League clubs were sniffing around. They were unprepared to pay the fee involved though while transfers to Southern League clubs did not attract a payment.

Samuel enjoyed two seasons at Luton where he was a regular in the side as an inside forward or right winger as well as scoring his share of goals. Wanderlust then took him to Watford before he eventually wound down his career at Maidstone. He later worked as a clerk in Maidstone before passing away in Hastings in 1957.
