Scott Neilson
Scott Neilson Date of Birth: May 15, 1987 Share "Scott Neilson" on FacebookBorn Enfield, Middlesex. Started his career in non league with Hertford Town, Ware and Cambridge City and made his name as a goal scoring wide midfielder. He came to the attention of Bradford city who signed him on a three year deal in the Summer of 2009. He played fairly regularly until a change of management n February 2011. Criticised for a lack of fitness Scott was loaned out the Cambridge United for the rest of the season. The return to Bradford was short as ambitious Crawley Town stepped in with an offer which was accepted.
Crawley manager Steve Evans said he had been tracking Scott for some time and he featured in 31 games in their Conference Championship winning season scoring 6 goals. The first season in League two (fourth tier) saw Scott play 35 times with 3 goals scored. Falling out of Crawley’s plans, he went to Grimsby on a 3 month loan at the start of the 2012/13 season but no permanent deal was arranged.
Paul Buckle and Luton stepped in and gave him a contract until the end of the season.Scott’s first game was in a defeat away to Woking on New Year’s Day. Scott scored his only goal in the 6 1 home win over Barrow on the 8th January. However, Buckle left in February and new manager John Still assessed the squad and decided Scott did not figure in his plans and he was released at the end of the season.
Grimsby took him on a one year deal and he featured 40 times in their 2013/14 Conference season scoring 6 goals. The following season saw 21 appearances but Scott was released in February 2015. Spells followed at the ed of his career at Whitehawk, Hemel Hempstead Town and Royston Town
