Sid Ottewell

Sid Ottewell Date of Birth: Oct 23, 1919

Sid had made only three League appearances for Chesterfield before war broke out but as a P. T. instructor during the hostilities he managed to turn out for number of clubs as a guest player.

An aggressive and hard shooting inside-forward, Sid top-scored for Chesterfield in 1946-47 leading to a £5,000 move to Birmingham in June 1947, before moving to Luton six months later.

Despite scoring four goals in 15 League appearances, Sid never settled at Kenilworth Road and he was soon off to Nottingham Forest followed by spells at Mansfield and Scunthorpe.

Sid later played for and managed several non-League outfits in the Midlands including Spalding and Lockheed and lived in retirement in Nottingham before passing away in 2012.
