Sonny Bradley

Sonny Bradley Date of Birth: Sep 13, 1991

Kingston upon Hull born Sonny Bradley, turned heads in his local City, joining the ranks at Hull at the age of 7, progressing through the youth system, signing professional terms in 2011 at the age of 20. A flurry of loan moves soon followed, joining Conference North side Harrogate Town, scoring his first professional goal during an FA Trophy tie against Witton Albion, before loan moves to Swedish side IK Frej and then back to back loan moves to League 2 Aldershot Town. These loans were punctuated by his professional debut at Hull City who had recalled him during the 2011/12 season, his debut came in a 2-0 loss to Coventry City with his final Hull appearance being a start in another 2-0 loss to Millwall. Sonny's return to Aldershot Town for the 2012/13, coincided with the club being relegated to the Conference Premier. Upon his return to Hull, he was released.

Sonny joined League 2 Portsmouth on a free transfer ahead of the 2013/14, citing he had turned down moves further up the football pyramid, after just one season he moved to Crawley Town for an undisclosed fee, becoming a fan favourite, enjoying two seasons before joining Plymouth Argyle, where he became a fan favourite, grabbing a reputation as a goalscoring threat from set pieces. However, after two campaigns with Plymouth, he was lured over to Luton Town ahead of the 2018/19 season, who were competing in League One for the first time in nearly a decade.

Under Nathan Jones, Sonny Bradley formed a fearsome partnership at centre back with Matty Pearson, forming one half of a fearsome defence that saw James Shea win the golden gloves award at the end of the campaign and Luton Town win the title. Sonny started the 2019/20 campaign off with a bang, scoring a sensational 25 yard volley during a memorable 3-3 draw with Middlesbrough, which both opened his account at the club as well as being the first goal Luton had scored in the second tier for over a decade. Sonny, as captain oversaw improved finishes at Luton Town, during the following three seasons at the club, going from mid table in the 2020/21 season, to a 6th place playoff finish in the 2021/22 season, scoring in the home leg against Huddersfield in the playoff semi final. Ultimately Sonny Bradley, captained Luton Town to promotion through the playoffs the following season, lifting the playoff trophy at Wembley.

Sonny left Luton Town upon the expiration of his contract with a promotion to his name, joining League 1 Derby County on a free transfer, and was instrumental in their promotion back to the Championship in his first season at the Rams.
